How Dry Ground Mercantile Began
Dry Ground Mercantile, LLC began as Cuttin' Up Custom Die Cuts in 2006 at the prompting of a local scrapbook store owner who was looking for scrapbook die cuts for local schools, events, and travel. The business quickly expanded to me supplying custom die cuts for five area scrapbook stores. In 2008 I added vinyl decals that, at the time, were small enough to be placed on the covers of scrapbook albums. This eventually led to car decals and then quickly to wall decals. Since then I have added many more items such as wood signs, apparel, and most recently laser engraved items to the list of items that I now sell. Since 2022 I have expanded more into the apparel realm and even will go on site to events or shows to sell and press shirts on site to the buyers' color choices and size specifications. In 2024 after a few years of pondering a name change I decided it was time to change the name to something more relevant to the business (I had not done scrapbook die cuts in ages). With venturing more out of my basement and into the public area to press shirts on site I decided it was probably a good idea to change the structure to a Limited Liability Corporation as well. After kicking around many name options and from the input from family I decided on Dry Ground Mercantile, LLC. Dry Ground is a prayer our family has prayed often in life situations for God to give us "dry ground" with His guidance , path, and our faith- Joshua 3:14-17. This business was built on a lot of prayer, faith, guidance and God's provision and it just seemed to be the fitting name.
All of the items in the shop are made to order by me in my basement work area. This means that in most cases the items may be customized to your needs whether it be color choices or re-sizing. Feel free to contact me to see if the item you are interested in may be changed to meet your specifications. Items ship within three to five business days unless it is a special request which requires more time as arranged prior to the purchase.
I love this business because it has allowed me to be a stay-at-home mom to our children and still help with some of the family expenses. This business challenges me every day to push myself to achieve new goals as well as gives me a creative outlet. I have greatly enjoyed some the of wonderful people I have met over the years that I never would have had the opportunity to meet had it not been for this business.
